The world exists through the intellect of the Dog. This is stated in the Vendidad, Book of Law, the oldest original piece, the oldest books of mankind.
Appearance
The wolf is the ancestor of the domestic dog. Domesticated dog has 78 chromosomes, same as the wolf. However, the diversity amongst domestic dogs is astonishing. Irish Wolfhound is much taller than his ancestors, while grown Chihuahua is the size of a wolf cub. Certain breeds weigh only one kilo, even less, while some, mainly mastiffs such as St. Bernard are heavier than wolves, weighing over 90 kilos.
They can have short and straight hair, curly and soft, or long hair, and even without any.
All domestic dogs can be interbred because they all belong to the same species. Rationally, it would be difficult to mate Great Dane with tiny Pekingese Dog.
Lifestyle
They are prone to chasing cats, and hedgehogs annoy them and if they spot them they will circle them and helplessly bark.
All domestic dogs love soft padding and only a few will tolerate coverings. All like sleeping and will sleep a lot, but in breaks. They sleep quietly and restlessly, usually accompanied by dreams, indicated by wiggling tail, twitches, growling and quiet barking. They are clean animals, especially where they sleep.
The way they will live their life will mostly depend on us: whether we will give them proper upbringing or not care for them enough. They would be often be mistreated primarily thanks to human greed.
Temperament and affinities
Some dogs are prone to learn from humans, some are more independent and demure. Some are more tame and some more wild. Some are easier to teach, some harder. Some are picky regarding food, and others eat any food we serve them. Some love water very much, some not at all. Some like to run while others just to walk. Some like to dig, others to sniff. Although they are all social beings, some fondly approach people they do not know (to meet them) while others are very precautious and untrusting towards strangers. none of the dogs blend all of this characteristics in the same way, some are more prominent and some are more recessed.
Dog grooming
Dogs in the wild do not groom. They do not go to the parlour or bath with shampoo and still have beautiful hair. Nonetheless, many domestic dogs are made in such way they need some grooming. They can have such hair, with certain breeds, that needs frequent brushing and regular cutting and trimming of the hair. If we own a dog, we should bathe him with dog shampoo, but not more than twice a year since the washing off smells they cary can disturb them; although they recover it quickly, after the bathing they usually feel uncomfortable.
