Critically endangered species – CR: Red wolf (Canis rufus) 50–75 specimens, Darwin's Fox (Pseudolopex fulvipes) around 300 specimens, Island Fox (Urocyon littoralis).
Endangered species – EN: Ethiopian Wolf (Canis simensis) around 500 specimens, Dhole (Cuon alpinus) around 2000 specimens, African Wild Dog (Lycaon pictus).
Near Threatened species – NT: Maned Wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus).
Vulnerable species – VU: Dingo (Canis dingo), Bush Dog (Speothos venaticus), Blanford's Fox (Vulpes cana).
Red wolf was extinct in wilderness, but in 1988 few specimens were set free in North Carolina. The number of specimens was on the raise until 2004, but it is going down from that point. In the period of 2012 to 2015 it dropped for 50% – from 100–120 to 50–75.
Some species, like Falkland Island Fox, are already extinct.
